Back

Haven't had time to 'liveblog' as I hoped. Updates will be forthcoming.

Meanwhile a little link of use to a forthcoming AladdinFic:

Hey, I'm the Doctor. I can save the universe using a kettle and some string! And look at me, I'm wearing a vegetable!

(was Angus MacGyver really another renegade Time Lord working undercover on Earth?)

Arrived at City of Angels

... and initially wondered if a little divine intervention mightn't've come in handy with regard to the workings of certain technological devices. Oh well. Problems solved, now settling in.

Shaun Lyon's apparently in the lobby chillin'. Will have to pop by and say hello. (He's the Gallifrey maven.)

Speaking of chill, it's a balmy 61F by the hotel pool!

Photos to follow.

Happy Valentine's Day to all.

Whovian Meme

I promise not to load this place with memes (it's a fiction repository), but I couldn't resist this one gakked from assorted LiveJournallers in the Who fandom, especially since the responses to the questionnaire have shown just how diverse the fandom is.
Warning: long.

Blögåsbørd 1: Robots

In which Brewster indulges hir inner Asimov.

AAAI Robots News (referenced in this book)

Android World

Boston Globe: Don't just stand there, think

Yuletide: C/Fe by Dorinda [warning: nsfw] (the only occurrence I can think of of human/android slash in the Asimov 'verse, and it's rather good)

(ty nibbler): BBC News: Plan to teach baby robot to talk

Power, responsibility and Morgenstern

(looks in alarm at the number of bookmarks labeled "Fic Reference"; makes mental note to offload some of them onto here, since that was the original function of a blog, nicht wahr?)
Well, here's the latest one.

Happy (belated) birthday, Bird

It may seem funny to commemorate the birthday of a fictional character, particularly of one's own invention, but any excuse for a little bit of celebration is fine by me.

Due to a few technical difficulties >.> I couldn't post this on January 29th, the actual birthdate. (Based upon the fictional birthday of a very real actor.) I lack the fu to backdate it.

I ficced in this universe on this date in '06 and '07, but on 1/29/08 my muse had the dumb, and so instead of posting something original to my universe I'm going to cheat by posting a link to a far more interesting essay by a LiveJournaller (LJist?) who goes by the journal name 'kassrachel', concerning the parallels to be drawn between fanworks and the Jewish tradition of 'midrash' (exegetical tales). Intriguing stuff.

Happy second birthday, Birdy.

File under "who knew?"

Was in conversation with parental unit and sibling unit over an evening meal last night.

Turns out ickle me was absolutely mad-keen fer books from before I can remember.

Insisted on being read to, then insisted on reading something big enough to turn the pages of, and was particularly keen on reading in bed (still am). Not as sociable as the average, but reading from books from an early age.

(Ahem. Somewhere I still have a couple of children's exercise books wherein I was attempting to write the illustrated adventures of my then collection of teddy bears and their friends. Sort of as though Christopher Robin had attempted to take over from A.A. in writing the adventures of Pooh et al. I was in primary school at the time.)

One likely conclusion: I are orfuh. It woz destinee.

I Had A Cunning Plan

... I decided that I would get this site going with some all-new fiction written just for some friends of mine. (Most of them are Doctor Who fans, so the fic will reflect that.)

Each person was asked, round about last Christmas, if they wanted to contribute three "wishes" for a fic they'd like written (hence my name for this one-orfuh-ficathon, "AladdinFic").

I'll be posting these little by little in the order I get them done: one is already complete at time of writing and will be posted soon.

Eep

Gallifrey Nineteen minus 27 days.

Must get that wig in order...
