Whovian Meme

I promise not to load this place with memes (it's a fiction repository), but I couldn't resist this one gakked from assorted LiveJournallers in the Who fandom, especially since the responses to the questionnaire have shown just how diverse the fandom is.
Warning: long.

1. When did you start watching?
Um. Early, like kneehigh-to-a-grasshopper early. Can't rightly recall.

1a. Why?
'Cos it was on (pre-Wilderness Years) and I was brought up in a slightly geeky household.

2. What was your first episode?
See 1. First one I can remember is “Remembrance of the Daleks”, and it scared me silly.

3. Which episodes have you seen?
(hunts in heavily-pencilled copy of Doctor Who Book of Lists) Um. Lots. All of the New Series and quite a bit of the old.

3a. Favourite?
New: Blink. Classic: toss-up between 'Talons' and 'Ghost Light'.

4. Are your friends/family interested in the show?
The parental units will watch it when it's on. As to my friends, most of them are either fans or Anglophiles.

5. Which Doctor is your favourite?
Eight. (But they're all splendid chaps.)

6. Which Doctor is your least favourite?
Six (TV canon; he's rather good in the audios) tied with Ten.

7. Which TV companion is your favourite?
Zoe. Can kill you with cute or her brain. (Closely followed by Ace.)

8. Which TV companion is your least favourite?
Adric. Going for the same CuteKid market as Zoe and failing signally.

9. Do you listen to the Big Finish audios?
Off and on. More off than on these days.

9a. If so, which is your favourite?
Toss-up between the “Shada” remake, “Dust Breeding”, and “Storm Warning”.

9b. Also: which Big Finish companion is your favourite?
Charley. (Followed closely by Evelyn.)

10. Have you listened to any non-Big Finish audios?
The Barry Letts ones; I've also got “Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf”, which I still need to listen to.

10a. If so, which is your favourite?
Meh. “Ghosts of N-Space” has its moments.

11. Have you read any of the novels or short stories?
(eyes 80-odd books on hir bookshelf) You might say that...

11a. Have you written any of the novels or short stories?
IANABNF.

11b. Which is your favourite?
“The Left-Handed Hummingbird” is probably my desert-island read. That or “Original Sin”.

12. Have you read any of the comics?
(again, eyes several boxes of DWM) You might say that...

12a. You guessed it - which is your favourite?
The one-off “Where Nobody Knows Your Name” just gives me the warm fuzzies. Quite liked “Bad Blood” though. Well-drawn and well-characterized.

13. Do you watch any of the spinoffs (e.g. Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures)?
Yes.

13a. Which is your favourite?
SJA. More competence in the collective little fingers of Sarah Jane's crew than in the whole bodies of Captain Jack's Scooby Gang. (And that was just having seen one ep of SJA as opposed to a season and three eps of TW.)

14. Is there any particular episode/book/audio/comic you desperately want to watch/listen to/read?
Two BFAs: Caerdroia and Chimes of Midnight.

Fandom
1. Do you write fanfic for Doctor Who?
Yes indeedy. (glares at muse)

1a. If so, post a snippet of a work-in-progress (or several)!
From a Martha/Eight WIP (still in note form, but I like the exchange:)
“What d'you say?”
“I don't know what to think.”
“Good – excellent! Don't let anyone bully you into thinking otherwise.”

2. Do you create Doctor Who icons?
No. (Wish I did.)

2a. Let's see a sample!
n/a

3. Recommend a fanfic/icon/fanvid/fancomic/fancreation!
Yikes, where to begin? Pretty much anything by calapine or doyle_sb4. Or, if you're into TW, TW Babiez is hysterical (and crosses over, like the canon, with Who).

4. Have you been to any Doctor Who conventions?
Not yet...

5. Have you ever dressed up as a Doctor Who character?
Yes. And will reprise that same character at the convention in question.

6. Do you own any Doctor Who merchandise?
Besides the books and CDs? One sonic screwdriver, a T-shirt, a few badges, and a scale-model police box.

7. Are you a fan of Russell T Davies?
Can't say I am. I'm glad he brought back the series, but I can't say I'm entirely happy with what he's done since then.

7a. Steven Moffat?
Good writer and good egg, looking forward to meeting him. Yes, I think so.

7b. Paul Cornell?
See 7a.

8. What say you to Season 6b?
...eh? Well, considering what ravages the rest of Two's era suffered, why not?

9. The UNIT dating controversy?
I blame Mike Yates. ;) More seriously, I find the fanwank about the chronology of Sherlock Holmes stories (Watson's wives, etc....) more entertaining than that of the Pertwee ones.

10. The Blinovitch Limitation effect?
Has that ever been defined? If not, whatever (handwaves)

11. Multi-Doctor episodes?
The snarkier the better (hearts The Three Doctors). Looking forward to a one where all the surviving Doctors totally lay the smack down on Ten.

12. What's your favourite Doctor Who technobabble?
“Pass me that silicon rod, please.”

13. Have you watched other TV shows exclusively because of the presence of Doctor Who actors?
Erm, yes. Quite a lot of the time. Even got converted to Dickens through seeing Eight in Our Mutual Friend.

14. Have you met any of the actors?
Yes. McGann, at a bookstore where he was doing a reading. More people wanted his autograph than the author's!

14a. Travelled to any filming locations?
Aldbourne (The Daemons; also a rather fine pub), and that stone circle in Oxfordshire where they shot The Stones of Blood. And the Empire State Building before they shot “Manhattan/Evolution”. Psych!

15. What do you think of The Curse of Fatal Death?
Conflicted. Certain bits of it just hit my embarrassment-squick for unknown reasons, but it's still hilarious, and Joanna Lumley was born to play a Time Lady.

16. Do you have any fannish opinions that you think are fairly unpopular?
Black Orchid is rather boring? I try not to follow some of the more opinionated-to-the-point-of-insanity bits of fandom.

17. What's your favourite pairing?
Eight/Fitz so far, but I'm fairly catholic in my tastes. Looking forward to seeing some more cross-era pairings.

18. What pairing(s) won't you touch with a really long pole?
Ten/Rose (mainly because of the exceptionalists, but also because I really don't see grounds for much more than Ten&Rose). Closely followed by Adric/anyone.
